This classic New England cape home in Framingham, Massachusetts had to be resuscitated! The views of the reservoir from the back of the house were enhanced by a triple window, and a large slider to the deck. The old kitchen was brightened up, not only by adding white cabinetry, but also by taking down much of the wall between the dining room and the kitchen...creating needed pantry space below the 42" high wall, while allowing the light to flow through front to back, in addition to highlighting the views. The beverage center took over a storage area that used to be the laundry, moved to another location. A grey washed oak counter sits atop a charcoal island, with cookbook storage and seating, none of which could have been possible to place if we didn't recess the refrigerator 6" into an adjacent closet, to allow ample pass through. Black chalkboard paint was applied to the door to the basement....which often has the evening's menu written on it.
