Kitchen Color Trends for 2026: What’s In, What’s Out?
It’s not overly cliché to say that color has the power to transform a kitchen dramatically. Regardless of whether it’s the color selections on the cabinetry, walls, or accent pieces, the hues you choose set the tone for how your kitchen, secondary kitchen, and adjacent spaces feel. At KitchenVisions, we keep a close eye on emerging palettes, and the next few years promise a shift toward warmth, contrast, and showcasing personality.
Here’s a look at what’s trending as 2025 comes to a close and what to look for in 2026. Most importantly, here’s what is on its way out!
What’s In: The Presence of Greens and Earthy Tones

If one color is having a moment, it’s green. Picture soft gray-greens on cabinetry, deep teals and turquoise accents, and dark and rich greens. We’ve been seeing more and more green elements in 2025. The green palette brings the outside in and pairs beautifully with natural wood tones. Expect to see shades like sage, olive, and forest working alongside lighter woods and neutral countertops. Green also looks breathtaking when paired with bolder metallic appliances, as well as copper piping and coffee machines.
Earth tones are also gaining traction. Think terracotta, sand, and warm taupes. These hues provide a grounded sensation that still feels fresh and contemporary. Balboa Mist and other creamier neutrals are showing up in cabinetry and wall paint, offering warmth without heaviness.
Unexpected Neutrals and Bold Accents
White will always remain timeless, but kitchen designers are exploring new neutrals like charcoal gray, navy, and even matte black. Black, once seen as too harsh, has emerged as a versatile base, especially when paired with brass hardware or light countertops. It’s bold, but when used thoughtfully, it acts as an appreciated backdrop.

Red and cranberry have also gained popularity as eye-catching accent colors, whether in tile, appliances, or accessories. They add warmth and personality without overwhelming the space.
Two-Tone Cabinetry & Color Blocking
Two-tone cabinetry is here to stay. Upper cabinets in a light neutral, paired with darker lowers in navy, green, or charcoal, create balance and a tiny bit of flair. Painted kitchen islands in contrasting colors are another way homeowners are upping the personality factor. Color blocking, which means using bold contrasts intentionally, can help define zones within open-concept kitchens, making large spaces feel more grounded.

What’s Out: Cool/Minimalist Sterility
Ultra-cool grays and sterile all-white kitchens are fading; they’re no longer in the cool kids club. While white will always have a place, homeowners are craving warmth and individuality. The stark, one-note palettes of the last few decades are giving way to layers of tone and texture.
Ultimately, the right palette depends on your lifestyle and what emotions you want your kitchen to evoke.
